So I have been living in the darkroom as I hurry to get all client stuff printed and framed before Xmas. I am very happy with everything I am doing in there, which is nice. That said, I am getting blurry eyed from that little red light . . .

So what do I do to take my mind off printing client pictures . . . scan my own pictures. That I guess is a sign that you love what you do . . .

Here is someHp5 at 25000. Dev for 40 min at 30 degrees in stock d-76. I have been experimenting with pushing the limits of Holga indoors . . . the grain has nowhere to hide but that was to be expected . .

Christmas Gifts

After many years of trying to decide what to gift people for Christmas, I have had a revelation . . . Photographs! I have made the radical decision to gift everyone photos this year. Free sessions for brothers and girlfriends, framed beauties of the kids for the grandparents . . .

I know this may seem like an obvious direction, but for some reason I always thought it was maybe selfish or lazy or narcissistic to gift my own work. Instead I opted for random knickknacks, books and other peoples art.

Somewhere between last year and this year it occurred to me that if I had a friend or a sister or a daughter that created . . . anything . . . I would want a little of that to open for myself.

Now I only have to consider my kids . . . who are about the only ones that would not want more photos . . .

Christmas

Sometimes wonderful thoughtful gifts require a little planning. Picture the face of a grandmother unwrapping a beautiful framed portrait of all her grandchildren. Picture a mothers face when she realizes that her husband has managed to surprise her with beautiful portraits of their baby (she will forever wonder how he pulled it off without her knowing!).

Photography is a wonderful gift and a custom portrait session is ideal for that person who has everything. I promise they don't have this!

The Christmas deadline this year is fast approaching. For guarenteed Christmas delivery of framed prints the SESSION deadline is NOVEMBER 5th..

I have very few dates available before that deadline.

If time slips away from you, don't fret. Gift certificates are available anytime, even possibly Christmas eve, if I'm not busy wrapping presents. :)

A trip to Halifax

I am now back from a small trip to Halifax. The trip was to see my dear friend Amy marry her longtime beau Craig. The wedding went without a hitch (that I could see) and both Amy and Craig were stunning in their fancy wedding gear. I did take some photographs of the preparations, thankfully she had another great photographer to do the real photography. I did manage to get many nice images of Amy getting ready, and will share one or two once I get them all back (some are colour).

I also was able to introduce my youngest to his grandparents. This was a blessing as my Mother-in-law has MS and is unable to travel these days. Baby is not shy one bit and gave many well received hugs and such and was all around awesome.

My little guy . . . is all about the growl and wrestle . . . as long as he continues to serve it with a side order of hugs and kisses I can handle it.
